This being 2020, Shadow of the Tomb Raider also caters to the growing number of players who want a 4K upgrade. Giving players the option for a TN panel (tens of thousands of dollars on their own) only makes sense in 2020. Players who prefer an inexpensive option without sacrificing performance will want the 120Hz panel (less than $100 on its own), which provides comparable frame rates and slightly better image quality than the 1080p 60Hz panel.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider's defining feature is the Sphere Mode. This roguelike--among other things--gives players the ability to face enemies from any angle. When an enemy roams onto a player-defined perch, you'll be able to lean on them from above and blast them from the side, for instance. It can be an absolute pain to find gems that aren't just your height and weight, but can be tough to frame just right and can otherwise be very dark.
As someone who generally enjoys games that aren't chained to the same old-fashioned formula, Tomb Raider was no exception. Lara Croft's gameplay was a major part of the deal for me, and while it lacked the depth that made the previous games great, it took advantage of the Sphere Mode and some nifty new features like Croft's powers to make it into one of the best Lara games I've played in a long time.
Developer Crystal Dynamics gave Tomb Raider a shift away from the open world of the last few games to the tomb raider's home away from home, a medival city populated by talking, "real" animals. Progressing through each level made the search for items and secrets more interesting, and there were a few charming moments where Lara would encounter an adorable feline, or a gentle hawk. It's always electrifying to hear a giant beast roar in the background, but there were several times where I found myself enjoying the pretty, rather than the quite decent combat.
